| Brown County Fine Art Inc, has twelve years of experience in consignment sales, and appraisals of
Indiana Heritage Art. Specializing in Brown County painters, we have handled large estates,
including that of colony artists Anthony Buchta and Arthur Humpal.
Major appraisals include the collection of the Oak Park, River Forest High School,
whose discovery of Brown County paintings made headlines across the Chicago area.
The paintings were catalogued and appraised by Brown County Fine Art, Inc. before they went to a record-breaking
auction in Oak Park.
The reclusive artist, Arthur Humpal and his huge collection of work, made headlines across the mid-west when, he was discovered by police near death, in his Brown County cabin. Brown County Fine Art, Inc.was appointed by the court as the agent to handle the nearly 500 works of art found locked away in the attic. Several court supervised sales provided the necessary support to care for Mr.Humpal for the rest of his life. And it was Brown County Fine Art, Inc. that handled the estate of early colony artist Anthony Buchta. The paintings were found in a country store in northern Indiana where relatives had stored them for over 50 years without any knowledge of their value. Brown County Fine Art, Inc. has a long list of clients eager for early Brown County art as well as a working relationship with the major auction houses that specialize in Indiana art. In addition to sales and appraisals, Brown County Fine Art, Inc. and its sister company, Vision Ventures video productions of Indianapolis have produced numerous art related videos for museums as well as a companion video to the book, The Artists of Brown County, which was also distributed by Indiana University Press. Vision Ventures has copies of the video available and is ready to work with any client on a video, DVD, or interactive brochure project.
While the history of art in Indiana is important, Brown County Fine Art, Inc is also looking to
the future. We provide artist representation to a select few of Indiana’s Hoosier Masters of the 21st Century.
We believe the caliber of artist that has gathered in Indiana to live and paint today rivals the early
colony of a hundred years ago. Is history repeating itself? We think so. If you are interested in
learning about some of these new artists please contact us and check out the work of new artists currently featured on our website. Are you an artist seeking representation? We would love to
consider your work. Please contact us.
